Program Description

Learner-Centered Design

The program is grounded in the understanding that students learn in different ways and at different paces. Project-12 adapts to the learner rather than requiring conformity to a single instructional model, supporting individual strengths, addressing challenges, and fostering meaningful growth.

Multiple Pathways to Learning and Demonstration

Students are offered multiple ways to access content and demonstrate understanding, ensuring accessibility while honoring diverse learning profiles and abilities.

Structured Yet Flexible Learning Environment

Small class sizes, predictable routines, and clear expectations create a sense of safety and structure, while flexibility allows for individualized learning and growth.

Varied Instructional Modalities

Instruction is delivered through experiential, visual, auditory, collaborative, and reflective approaches, ensuring accessibility and encouraging students to develop new skills.

Authentic Assessment Practices

Assessment prioritizes demonstrated understanding through projects, portfolios, presentations, and applied learning tasks rather than reliance on high-pressure testing alone.

Built-In Flexibility and Individualized Support

Flexibility in scheduling, pacing, and workload allows students to access scaffolded instruction, individualized supports, and adjusted timelines as needed.

Explicit Executive Functioning Development

Skills such as planning, organization, self-regulation, and self-advocacy are taught explicitly and reinforced through daily practice and experiential learning.

Preparation for Life Beyond High School

Beyond academics, Project-12 emphasizes independence, resilience, and self-understanding, supporting students as they prepare for post-secondary education, training, or employment pathways.

Inclusive, Not Remedial

Project-12 is neither remedial nor restrictive. It is an inclusive, responsive program designed to serve a broad student population while intentionally addressing the needs of learners often underserved in traditional settings.
